JOURNEY OF ESTABLISHMENT & DEVELOPMENT

Power Generation Corporation 3 (EVNGENCO3) was established under the Decision No. 3025/QD-BCT dated 01 June 2012 of the Ministry of Industry and Trade and officially operated from 01 January 2013. Over 10 years of establishment and development, Power Generation Corporation 3 has become one of the strong brands in Vietnam’s energy industry, always fulfilling the mission of ensuring electricity supply for national economic-society development.
  1. Pioneering milestone of a gas carrier to lighten belief
    • On 07 April 1996, at Phu My Industrial Park, Ba Ria - Vung Tau Province: Prime Minister Vo Van Kiet inaugurated the construction of Phu My Power Plant - the largest and most modern thermal power plant in Vietnam at that time, making an important contribution to building a nationwide power grid, solving the power shortage in the South, promoting production and economic development and taking advantage of the huge amount of gas not being used in Vung Tau offshore.
    • Phu My Power Complex includes 4 plants i.e., Phu My 2.1 Thermal Power Plant was initially built with total capacity of 290MW, followed by Phu My 2.1 Extension Thermal Power Plant, Phu My 1 Thermal Power Plant and Phu My 4 Thermal Power Plant, respectively.
  2. Conquering the rivers of the great Central Highlands
    • Năm 2004: Project of 3 large terraced hydropower plants on Srepok River, including Buon Kuop, Buon Tua Srah, and Srepok 3 with a total capacity of 586MW was synchronously constructed to solve the power shortage in the Central Highlands.
    • From 2009 to 2010: Put 3 hydropower plants i.e., Buon Kuop, Buon Tua Srah, and Srepok 3 into operation and business.
  3. Turning point for a new development phase
    • On 01 June 2012, Power Generation Corporation 3 (EVNGENCO3) was established under the Decision No. 3025/QD-BCT of the Ministry of Industry and Trade, on the basis of restructuring Phu My Thermal Power One Member Company Limited, dependent-accounting power generation companies, and power source project management boards along with taking over state-owned ownership rights at some power generation companies under Vietnam Electricity Group.
    • 2013: Established Vinh Tan Thermal Power Company
    • 2014: Established GE-PMTP Power Service LLC.
    • 2015: Established Mong Duong Thermal Power Company cum Thermal Power Project Management Board 1; EVNGENCO3 Power Service Company.
    • 2016: Phu My Thermal Power Company was re-established and took over the operation of Phu My power plants.
  4. Affirming the ability to steadily reach new heights
    • 2018: The Corporation transformed the its business model as a joint stock company; IPO and registered stock code PGV trading of Power Generation Joint Stock Corporation 3 on UPCOM on 21 March 2018.
    • 2019: Moved the Corporation’s headquarters from Ba Ria - Vung Tau Province to Ho Chi Minh City.
    • 2021: Market capitalization hit USD 1 billion.
    • 2022: Officially listed on HOSE on 10 February 2022.

PHU MY THERMAL POWER COMPANY

Activities: Being established for the purpose of immediately solving the power shortage and utilizing a huge amount of offshore gas at Vung Tau, Phu My 2.1 Plant was deployed with the initial capacity of 290MW.

After that, Phu My 2.1 Extension Thermal Power Plant, Phu My 1 Thermal Power Plant and Phu My 4 Thermal Power Plant were constructed and put into operation from 1998 to 2004 in Phu My Ward, Phu My Town, Ba Ria - Vung Tau Province.

The plants all use the modern technology of combined-cycle gas turbine using natural gas from Nam Con Son, Hai Thach - Moc Tinh, Thien Ung - Dai Hung and Sao Vang - Dai Nguyet oilfields. With a total capacity of 2,540MW, Phu My Thermal Power Company contributes 46% to the total capacity of the Corporation.

VINH TAN THERMAL POWER COMPANY

Activities: Vinh Tan Thermal Power Company is assigned to manage and operate 2 plants with a total capacity of 1,286MW, including: Vinh Tan 2 Thermal Power Plant (1,244MW) and Vinh Tan 2 Solar Power Plant (42.65MWp equivalent to 38MW) at Vinh Tan Power Center, Binh Thuan Province. By the end of 2022, Vinh Tan Thermal Power Company has provided more than 50 billion kWh of electricity to the national grid.

MONG DUONG THERMAL POWER COMPANY

Activities: Mong Duong Thermal Power Company was established in 2015 managing and operating Mong Duong 1 Thermal Power Plant with a total capacity of 1,080 MW. Each year, it generates about 6.5 billion kWh into the national grid.

Mong Duong 1 Thermal Power Plant uses raw materials from coal 6a provided by TKV and coal 5b by Northeast. Mong Duong 1 Thermal Power Plant is the first thermal power project of EVN using circulating fluidized bed boiler (CFB) technology which is the most advanced technology in the world at present, especially in the field of exhaust gas treatment, ensuring environmental friendliness. In particular, in 2021 Mong Duong 1 Thermal Power Plant installed an electronic board system to display environmental monitoring data online to provide transparent information on environmental management. This system has been granted the certificate of environmental management system in accordance with ISO 14001:2015 in which the ash and slag of the Plant is consumed entirely.

BUON KUOP HYDROPOWER COMPANY

Activities: Buon Kuop Hydropower Company is assigned to manage and operate 03 large terraced hydropower plants on Srepok River in Dak Lak Province and Dak Nong Province with a total capacity of 586MW and average annual electricity of 2.6 billion kWh.

The hydropower plant cluster of Buon Kuop Hydropower Company is among top 3 of installed capacity in the Central region, contributing to ensure power security in the Central Highlands and the Southeast region. Buon Kuop Hydropower Plant also plays an important role in flood and drought reduction for the downstream area of the Srepok river.

EVNGENCO3 POWER SERVICE COMPANY

For enterprises manufacturing and operating power plants, overhaul cost is one of the biggest costs for plants. Because of owning a repair company, we have a great advantage in arranging power services, reducing costs, and quickly applying new technology for overhauling the Corporation’s power plants.

EVNGENCO3 Power Service Company (EPS) with more than 22 - year experience in the field of management, operation, and repair of power plants (gas, coal, and hydropower), its main function is to provide operation, special repair services for power plants and other industrial plants.

Organizational structure and management
Power Generation Joint Stock Corporation 3 is an enterprise operating under the form of a joint stock company with the model of a parent company - a subsidiary and having legal status.

The Corporation operates under the Law on Enterprise, having its own seal, logo, charter, branches and representative offices in accordance with the law. The Corporation is allowed to open bank accounts, directly operates its production and business and makes investment in subsidiaries and associates.

EVNGENCO3’s organizational structure includes General Meeting of Shareholders, Board of Directors, Board of Supervisors, and Board of Management together with advisory apparatus, to be specific:
